Ilminster Entertainment Society is a registered charity (no.291977) and was formed in 1947 with its inaugural production of ‘The Farmer’s Wife’. The society presents five productions in the theatre every year including its very popular Christmas show. It comprises over 200 members, both active in the theatre and also social members.

20 years ago we were lucky enough to obtain premises at the former fruit and vegetable warehouse on Brewery Lane. Through much hard work, grants and donations a theatre was formed which now seats 155 people and represents one of the most well equipped, professional-standard amateur theatres in the county. The theatre now stages IES productions as well as outside theatre and musical companies and also plays host to Ilminster Cinema Club, Ile Valley Flower Club and many other social clubs. The Theatre is also available for private hire for parties and corporate events.

Membership of IES is available for anyone – whether you want to act, join in or just be part of the audience.  Membership costs -  £10 per individual or £15 for a couple. To download a Membership Form as a Word Document, please click here. Forms are also available from the Theatre. For anyone wishing to pay by Standing order, please download the form as a Word Document here.

‘Social Nights’ are held in the theatre once a month and recent events have included a quiz night, ‘Call My Bluff’ and a Halloween Party.

2007 is a very special year for IES, who turn 60 years old and The Warehouse Theatre which has been established for 20 years. We are holding various celebratory events during the year details of which will appear on this page. If you wish to take part in the celebrations or have any suggestions for events, please contact Vickie Hobbs
