‘Arabian Nights’

Musical direction by Ellie Wilson

This colourful musical, written by Adam Forde with music by David Perkins, by arrangement with Plays and Musicals, tells well known stories including Ali Baba and Sinbad the Sailor, and had a cast of 22 young thespians some of whom have been in numerous productions and others for whom this is their first time.

Lottie Wilson starred as Scheherazade, who told wonderful stories to her tyrant husband, the King, played by Nathan Smith, to prevent him from ordering her to be executed.

It was a completely youth run show led by Sophy Layzell but with a young musical director Ellie Wilson who is currently at Colliton Grammar.

Other members of the directorial team were Liam Wheatley who is currently in his gap year, Tim Cook who is currently at Scat and Emily Pearlstone who was a member of the Youth Theatre when it first started!

We were also lucky to have been supported by members of the IES committee and Eastern Promise who helped with choreography and the artwork.

We were also really pleased to have had Jim Hawkridge training two young lads to run the lights, and Danice Jackson to coach one of the girls to Stage Manage.

The Youth Theatre is incredibly grateful to everyone who gave up their time, and the Youth Opportunity Fund and hope that everyone who supported the show enjoyed it as much as we did.
